2026/27 Brown Marmorated Stink Bug (BMSB) Seasonal Measures Confirmed
Further to our BMSB Season Preview issued on 2 August 2026, the Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry (DAFF) has now released the official 2026/27 Brown Marmorated Stink Bug (BMSB) Seasonal Measures.
As anticipated, there are no significant changes to the overall BMSB programme for the upcoming season. The seasonal measures apply to eligible goods shipped between 1 September 2026 and 30 April 2027 (based on the Shipped on Board date).
Key Updates for 2026/27
DAFF has approved Ethyl Formate as an additional onshore treatment option for eligible cargo, providing greater flexibility where treatment in Australia is permitted.
For the vast majority of importers, the existing BMSB compliance requirements remain unchanged. If your goods are manufactured in, or shipped from, a Target Risk Country and are classified as Target High Risk Goods, mandatory BMSB treatment requirements will continue to apply.
We encourage customers with shipments planned between September 2026 and April 2027 to review their supply chain now and confirm any treatment requirements with their overseas suppliers before cargo is booked. Early planning will help minimise delays and ensure compliance with DAFF's biosecurity requirements.
